Tourist Visa-on-Arrival (T-VoA)

The following guidelines have been put in effect from 1.1.2010 initially until 31.12.2010.

Eligibility

A tourist visa-on-arrival shall be granted to nationals of Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, or Singapore, and:

i.     whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to      

       meet friends or relatives etc. and no other purpose/ activity; (Activities like voluntary work, attending regular yoga classes, attending conferences, business activities, participation in seminars, internship with companies etc. are not covered under the scheme of Tourist Visa on Arrival.)

ii.     who does not have a residence or occupation in India;

iii.    who holds a passport with minimum six months validity,

This facility shall not be available to the citizens of above-named countries if the person or either of his / her parents or grandparents (paternal or maternal) was born in, and was permanently resident in Pakistan. Such persons will need to apply for visa at the Indian Mission / Post concerned.

Validity

A tourist visa-on-arrival is valid for a single entry and stay up to 30 days. Tourist Visas-on-Arrival are non-extendable and non-convertible.

Entry Points

The tourist visa-on-arrival will be provided only at designated international airports namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata and NOT at any other Immigration Check Post (ICP).

Fee for Tourist Visa-on-Arrival

A fee of ~40 euros or equivalent amount in Indian rupees per passenger (including children) will be charged.

Repeat visits

Tourist visa-on-arrival shall be allowed for a maximum of two times in a calendar year with a minimum gap of two months between each visit. The tourist visa-on-arrival facility shall not be applicable to holders of diplomatic/official passports.

Clarification:

1. Travelling individuals have the option to apply/obtain tourist visa from the Embassy. If time permits, it is recommended that tourist visa be obtained from the Embassy before undertaking the visit.

2. For visit on a tourist visa within a gap of two months, application for exemption has to be made with the Embassy giving reasons for revisit and special endorsement has to be obtained from the Embassy.
